In early July 2010, Merillat's favorite chef, Curtis Stone, hit the morning TV and radio airwaves with one message: Merillat's functional accessories make life in the kitchen easier. The interviews took place at a studio in Los Angeles and were broadcast through satellite to news morning shows across the country in top markets like LA, Sacramento, Denver and San Antonio. During these interviews, Curtis made a crab mozzarella salad while demonstrating different functional features that can make life in the kitchen easier, including Merillat's cutting board kit, deep drawer peg divider, double base waste basket and recycle bin, and SoftAction drawers. After all, who better to illustrate kitchen functionality than a professional chef?

Not everyone was born to be a great chef. Some people just lack the talent for understanding how to prepare a great meal no matter how hard they try. It does not mean that they should give up trying however; there are some great ways to keep yourself in the know about the kitchen and try your hand at the art of culinary cuisine.
Try something new. Often times we get stuck in the rut of cooking the same thing. You have tacos one night and chicken Caesar salad the next and then repeat and recycle.  It gets boring you and lost your drive to really get creative in the kitchen. Well it is time to do your research; you need to get on the ball about trying new foods and new ways to prepare them. Not only will is re-awaken your inner-chef but also those taste buds that have been longing to taste anything other than salad and tacos. Try new ethnics foods that prepare foods differently.
Add more spice to your food so you can challenge those taste buds into something more than the same old bland dinners.Go to farmers markets. Only use the freshest ingredients that are available. Using the fruits and vegetables that are in season will only make your meals become more alive. The vegetables being at the height of their season will mean their taste will be awesome. There are often programs in certain areas where you can sign up to get the freshest and in season veggies and fruits delivered to your door. That way if you are running on a busy schedule and know you cannot make to the farmers market every Sunday, it will come to your door. Â Having the best ingredients any chef will tell you what is the key to a great meal and a happy stomach.
You should watch cooking shows.
Sometimes getting great ideas is as easy as watching television. There are so many great chefs on television these days. Grabbing a new recipe or watching a new technique can really be helpful in trying to grow as a chef. Many television providers such as satellite have great programs based in the kitchen like Rachel Ray or Emeril Lagassee when you want them. You can record the television show you want and go back and watch it later. You can also pause the show if you need a minute to catch up in your own kitchen. Another great thing is that every channel is in high definition. That way you do not have to guess as to how they are chopping an onion, you can see exactly in fine detail what it looks like. The high definition resolution can really bring your cooking to the next level. It does not matter if you are cooking for one or an army of sports fans. Try your hand at something new in the kitchen. Add some spice and really get boiling, steaming and cooking in the kitchen every day to break out of the ordinary.
